Silence Thresholding

In this example of silence thresholding, we have an audio clip of someone saying the sentence, “Do you go to Ohio State?” As can be seen in the graph below of the original audio clip, there is no complete silence between each word. Therefore, defining a threshold value for silence provides a standard for determining spacing between words. We can then separate the clip into audio of each word as can be seen in the second picture of the below graph.
